About this deal
Juniper and little brother Bear - even their names break the mold - are living with their grandmother. This is a wonderful book which, whilst filled with tension from the opening pages, allows the reader to travel with Juniper and Bear as they try to escape the confines of the city. Beautiful descriptions of the settings, vivid pictures of the characters and how they are feeling throughout their journey.
You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Nicola Penfold is very clear with her writing and her descriptions of nature are quite beautiful and vivid. We witness her character change the most over the course of the book and I feel like watching her grow is a privilege that we readers have been given. This book was so moving and captivating, told with language that is neither difficult to understand, nor extremely bland or simple.
This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).Juniper Green lives in a walled city from which nature has been banished, following the outbreak of a deadly man-made disease many years earlier. Juniper and Bear cannot stand to live in a world without the wild and set out on a journey to find their parents in the wilderness.
