This was my first book by this author, and after reading it, I really wish I hadn’t bought another of his books at the same time as this one. The author of this smut--this Aron guy--should have his testicles smashed with a mallet and have his manhood removed with a rusty hacksaw.

If all this author does is describe the brutality of innocence of a baby dying, being murdered and women being sexually abused and maimed let alone a scene about gay men dying? The ending was so random that it seemed as though he was just looking for an excuse to add some extra last-minute bigotry.After pursuing careers (which ultimately failed) in music, filmmaking, and full-time drug use, he eventually circled back to his bloody bread and butter: writing highly disturbing and bizarre material that tends to explore the human potential for evil. For any of you who feels the violence and depravity is the most important part of the story, you need to read this book to learn about character development - because when the reader cares for the protagonist, they can FEEL the bad things happening.

That said, I imagine that there are some extreme horror novels that are well written – and this is anything but. i went in with very high expectations due to my current fascination with horror, how interesting the plot sounded, and all the rave reviews, but the author’s obvious wannabe alpha male tendencies and juvenile writing style ruined it.However, I am delighted to report that, from the very outset, these concerns were proven to be totally unfounded. I could smell the putrid whiff of filth and odor, it made me scratch my skin and unconsciously reach for a sanitizer just to lessen my discomfort. Son of the Slob picks up 8 years after the harrowing events experienced by Vera Harlow at the hands of The Slob.
